A FAMILY LEGACY - CELEBRATING OVER 60 YEARS OF QUALITY AND EXPERIENCE
Based in San Jose, California, our history began in 1947 when Gino Barsanti, his uncle, Ugo Stefani, and his brother-in-law, Perry Riparbelli, bought a retail market for fish & poultry converted from a small house on Race Street. Race Street Fish & Poultry, as it was originally named, still stands as our flagship retail outlet serving customers that have come to rely on the quality service that we have become famous for.

After Ugo retired in the 1950's Gino and Perry continued to build the retail business as well as offering our selections to fine restaurants and hotels. By the mid 1970's we had five retail outlets in addition to a thriving wholesale operation, delivering only the freshest fish & poultry to over 2000 wholesale customers in 10 Bay Area Counties.
In 1980 Gino and Perry decided it was time to retire and handed down the business to their sons. The first order of business for the second generation was to relocate the wholesale part of the business. They built a 63,000 square foot, state of the art processing and distribution facility where our wholesale operation currently resides. They also continued serving our retail customers from our Race Street Fish & Poultry flagship market.
Today, our retail store continues to earn recognition as "The Place" to buy Fish & Poultry. Our wholesale division has expanded its offerings to include a full line of beef, pork and lamb products, making us a "Center of the Plate Specialist." As such, our wholesale operation is now called Race Street Foods.
